Kitchen Renovations
The building work and the kitchen managed as one project, with every stage coordinated from preparation through to final installation.
A kitchen fitter fits kitchens. A builder can move the wall first. If your kitchen needs a doorway blocking up, a window enlarging or a wall taking out before the units go in, that is the job we are good at.
Typical works can include
Every project is different. Depending on the agreed scope, works may include:
- Strip out and disposal of the old kitchen
- Wall removal, doorway blocking and window alterations
- Replastering, floor levelling and screeding
- Electrical alterations and new circuits by a qualified electrician
- Plumbing, waste runs and appliance connections
- Kitchen installation, carcasses, doors and cornice
- Worktop templating and fitting, including stone and quartz
- Splashbacks, tiling and upstands
- Flooring, skirting and decoration
Elements such as decoration, flooring, structural engineer fees, Building Control fees and any professional or design costs are dealt with according to the individual project, and are included only where the quotation says so.
Where kitchens go wrong
Almost always in the preparation. Walls that are not flat, floors that are not level, and services that were never moved properly. Units are square. Old houses are not. If the wall behind the run bows by 15mm nobody notices until the worktop goes on and there is a gap you can see daylight through.
So we replaster where it is needed, level the floor, and move the electrics and the waste before a single carcass is opened. It adds a few days. It is the difference between a kitchen that looks fitted and one that looks bolted on.
Supply, or fit only
Plenty of clients buy their own kitchen. Howdens, Wren, Magnet, DIY sheds, an independent maker, it makes no difference to us. Send us the plan and we will tell you honestly whether it will work in the space and where the pinch points are. We are happy to fit a kitchen we did not supply.
Really helpful, efficient and accommodating. Would recommend if you need anything doing.
Examples of this work
Some of these are mid build rather than finished, because that is where you can see how something was put together.

Worth knowing
Our kitchen work is best suited to projects involving more than simply replacing units in the same positions. Where a renovation includes structural alterations, changes to services, plastering, flooring or wider building work, we can manage the complete project from preparation through to installation and finishing.
Common questions
Do you supply kitchens and bathrooms, or can I buy my own?
Either. Plenty of our customers buy their own kitchen from Howdens, Wren, Magnet or an independent maker and we fit it. Send us the plan before you order and we will tell you whether it works in the space.
We can also source it if you would rather one company was responsible for the whole thing. We will talk you through which route tends to work out better for your particular project.
How long will the work take?
It depends on the job, and anyone who gives you a number without seeing the house is guessing. As a rough guide: a bathroom is two to three weeks, a kitchen refit two to four, a single storey rear extension is usually ten to fourteen weeks from breaking ground, and a full house renovation runs three to six months depending on scale.
Weather, Building Control inspections and lead times on windows, doors and kitchens all move those numbers. We build realistic float into the programme rather than promising a date we cannot hold.
Can we stay in the house while you work?
Usually yes, and most of our customers do. On an extension you can live fairly normally right up until we break through into the existing house, which we leave as late as possible for that reason.
On a full renovation it is harder but still workable. We go room by room, keep a working kitchen and bathroom going as long as possible, sheet up properly and clean down at the end of each day.
