Kitchen Fitters in Newport Pagnell
Kitchens in the wrong room, walls in the wrong place, and a builder ten minutes away who can move both.
A lot of the older houses around Newport Pagnell’s High Street, St John Street and Tickford Street have the kitchen where the scullery was, at the back, down a step, in the smallest room in the house. A kitchen renovation there is a building job before it is a fitting job: the wall into the dining room out on a steel, the floor levelled, the old solid walls replastered, and then a kitchen fitted into a room that finally suits it.
On the estates at Green End and Tickford Park the kitchens are seventies and eighties galleys, and the request is nearly always the same: the wall into the dining room gone to make a kitchen diner, new electrics for an induction hob and an island, and a kitchen fitted properly onto flat walls and a level floor. We supply or fit only, we do the whole thing, and we are ten minutes away.

Kitchens in solid wall houses
Old walls are not flat and old floors are not level, and a run of units shows every millimetre of both. In a Newport Pagnell town house the preparation is the job: the plaster hacked off and replaced where it is blown, a breathable finish on the solid walls, the floor levelled with a screed or a floating floor, and the waste and the water run to where the sink is going rather than where it was in 1890. Then the units go in square and the worktop meets the wall without a gap.
The knock through into the dining room is usually a load bearing wall in soft brick, so the steel is designed by the engineer with generous padstones and inspected by Building Control. Inside an unlisted house that needs no planning application even in the conservation area; on a listed house it can need listed building consent. How it usually goes locally, not a ruling on your property, and confirmed with the council or a planning professional where it matters.

Questions from Newport Pagnell
Can you move the kitchen to a different room in a Newport Pagnell house?
Yes, and in the older houses it is often the right answer, bringing the kitchen forward into a bigger room with better light. It means new drainage and water runs, new electrics and a proper look at the floor, all of which we do as part of the same job. The old kitchen becomes a utility or a boot room, which most of these houses are short of.
Do you fit kitchens bought from Howdens or Wren?
Yes. Send us the plan and we will tell you honestly whether it works in the room and where the pinch points are. We fit kitchens from Howdens, Wren, Magnet, DIY Kitchens and independent makers, and we can supply if you would rather deal with one company for everything.
Do you supply kitchens and bathrooms, or can I buy my own?
Either. Plenty of our customers buy their own kitchen from Howdens, Wren, Magnet or an independent maker and we fit it. Send us the plan before you order and we will tell you whether it works in the space.
We can also source it if you would rather one company was responsible for the whole thing. We will talk you through which route tends to work out better for your particular project.
How long does a kitchen renovation take?
A straightforward kitchen installation into a room that is ready for it is usually one to two weeks. A kitchen renovation with a wall coming out, replastering, new electrics and new flooring is more often three to five weeks from strip out to handover.
The thing that stretches it is the worktop. Stone and quartz are templated once the units are in and take a week or so to come back, so there is a pause in the middle. We plan the decorating and the flooring around it rather than leaving the room empty.
Really helpful, efficient and accommodating. Would recommend if you need anything doing.
