Roofing and Structural Repairs
Fixing the leak is half the job. Putting right what the leak did is the other half.
The reason we take on roof work is that most leaks are not really a roofing job. By the time somebody rings us there is a wet ceiling, a rotten joist end and a bathroom that needs replastering, and that needs a builder rather than a roofer.

Every project is different. Depending on the agreed scope, works may include:
- Roof repairs and replacement tiles where required
- Removal and replacement of rotten roof timbers
- Wall plate, rafter and joist end repairs
- Guttering, fascia and rainwater goods
- Removal and replacement of water damaged ceilings
- New inspection hatches
- Plastering and making good after water damage
- Replacement windows and doors where frames have failed
- Waste removal and tidy on completion
Elements such as decoration, flooring, structural engineer fees, Building Control fees and any professional or design costs are dealt with according to the individual project, and are included only where the quotation says so.
What we actually find
Once a roof is opened up, the deterioration underneath is usually worse than what was visible. Slipped or cracked tiles let water in slowly for years before anyone notices. By then the battens have gone soft, the felt has perished, and the rafter or joist ends nearest the wall plate have started to rot. Patching over that just moves the problem.
So we take out what has failed and renew it properly, then re-tile, sort the guttering, and put the inside back: ceilings out and replaced, new inspection hatch, plastering and making good, new windows or doors where the frames have gone. That is a real job we did earlier this year, and it is a fairly typical one.
What we do not do
We are not a roofing company and we do not take on full re-roofs or scaffolded commercial work. Repairs, timber replacement, structural remedial work and the building work that follows a leak, yes. A complete new roof covering, no. We would put you on to somebody who does that all day.

Worth knowing
Leaks are hard to price blind. We will come and look, tell you what we can see, and be straight that until the roof is open nobody knows exactly what is under it. What we will not do is quote low and then find things.
Common questions
How long will the work take?
It depends on the job, and anyone who gives you a number without seeing the house is guessing. As a rough guide: a bathroom is two to three weeks, a kitchen refit two to four, a single storey rear extension is usually ten to fourteen weeks from breaking ground, and a full house renovation runs three to six months depending on scale.
Weather, Building Control inspections and lead times on windows, doors and kitchens all move those numbers. We build realistic float into the programme rather than promising a date we cannot hold.
What happens if you find something unexpected?
You get told the same day, and you get it in writing before anything is done about it. Old houses in particular hide things: a lintel that was never there, a rotten joist end, a drain running somewhere nobody expected.
Our focus is on transparency and communication at every stage, so nothing that affects the price goes ahead without your approval first. You will not receive a bill at the end for work you did not agree to.
Do you do small jobs?
No. We do not take on handyman work, single repairs or odd jobs, and it is better to say so up front than leave you waiting for a quote that never comes.
We are set up for substantial building and renovation work: extensions, structural alterations, whole house projects, conversions and significant external works. For smaller repairs or handyman-type work, we would recommend using a tradesperson who specialises in that type of service, as our team is structured around larger building and renovation projects.
