Builders in Winslow
A small market town that is growing again, with period property in the middle and new housing around the edge.
What the houses are like
A market has been held in Winslow since 1235 and the square is still the centre of the town. The conservation area was first designated in 1969 and reviewed since, most recently in 2026, and the town has a good stock of period property including Winslow Hall, built in 1700 with the accounts supervised by Sir Christopher Wren. Around that older core sit later twentieth century estates and a good deal of recent development.
Planning authority: Buckinghamshire Council

Two very different kinds of project
In the centre, the work tends to be sympathetic renovation and careful extension of period property, where matched materials and proportion matter and conservation area considerations usually apply. On the newer estates around the edge of the town it is much more familiar territory: cavity walls, trussed roofs and straightforward rear or side extensions.
The new railway station on the East West Rail line has changed the outlook for the town, and there has been substantial new housebuilding alongside it. Newer properties can bring their own considerations, including estate management arrangements and, on some developments, restrictive covenants that sit entirely outside the planning system. Those are worth checking in your title documents before you plan anything.
Planning here
Winslow falls under Buckinghamshire Council. Within the conservation area, permitted development rights can be narrower and street facing alterations generally attract closer attention. Outside it, many domestic extensions fall within permitted development, though that always depends on the individual property and on what has been built previously. Building Regulations approval applies to the work itself either way.
The guys did a fabulous job, friendly, professional and clearly taking pride in what they do. Will definitely use them again.
