Builders in Bletchley

Older than the new city and built in layers, which makes it one of the more varied places we work.

What the houses are like

Bletchley grew around the railway junction and then again around Bletchley Park, so you get Victorian and Edwardian property near Fenny Stratford, a large spread of interwar and 1930s semis, and then the Lakes Estate, built between 1968 and 1975 as one of the earliest new town developments.

Three quite different jobs depending on the street

A 1930s semi is often among the more straightforward extensions to build: cavity walls, generous plots, side access in many cases, and a rear elevation that takes a single storey extension without much drama. These are also the houses where a two storey side extension over the garage can add the most, because the plots are frequently wide enough to take it.

The Lakes Estate houses are a different proposition. Late sixties and early seventies construction can include non standard details, so we prefer to open up and look rather than assume. We check before we price.

Garages worth converting

Bletchley has a lot of integral and attached garages from the interwar and postwar stock, and many are too narrow for a modern car. Converting one is often the most cost effective floor area you can add to a house, provided the floor is dealt with properly with a continuous damp proof membrane and insulation rather than simply boarded over. Building Regulations approval applies to this work.

Highly recommend these guys! we are a retired couple residing in Aspley guise. We had rear extension and garage conversion completed, creating much needed space and a downstairs utility room. Charlie and Jonny are polite clean and always turned up when they said they would. Communications from start to finish were outstanding.
