Kitchen Fitters in Bletchley
The Bletchley kitchen diner: wall out, steel in, and a galley kitchen made into the biggest room in the house.
The most requested kitchen job in Bletchley is the knock through. The thirties semis, the fifties and sixties estate houses and the seventies housing towards Water Eaton all have a small kitchen at the back with a dining room next to it, and taking the wall out makes one room across the width of the house. It is a two to three day structural job at the front of the programme, then the electrics, the plastering, the flooring and a kitchen fitted into a room designed for it.
We are a few minutes away, we do the structure and the kitchen as one job, and we are happy to fit a kitchen you have bought yourself or to supply one. Our photographs on this page show the sequence: the wall propped, the steel installed on its padstones, the room replastered, the kitchen going in.

What a Bletchley kitchen renovation usually involves
The wall between the kitchen and the dining room is load bearing on nearly every house of this age, so the engineer sizes a steel, we install it flush into the floor zone where the joists allow, and Building Control inspect it before it is boxed in. The floor is often two different levels, a solid kitchen floor and a suspended timber dining room floor, and bringing them to one level is part of the preparation. The electrics on a thirties or sixties house rarely have the capacity for an induction hob, an oven and an island, so new circuits go in from the consumer unit at first fix.
Then the room is replastered flat, the flooring goes down, and the units are fitted square onto it. Internal kitchen work needs no planning application; the knock through needs Building Regulations approval and Milton Keynes City Council or an approved inspector sees the steel. General guidance rather than planning advice, confirmed for your address.

Questions from Bletchley
How long will my Bletchley kitchen be out of action?
For a kitchen renovation with a knock through, plan for three to five weeks from strip out to handover, with a temporary sink and a microwave somewhere for the middle of it. A straightforward installation into a room that is ready is one to two weeks. Stone worktops add a week or so after templating, and we plan around it.
Is it worth taking the wall out, or just refitting the kitchen?
If you can afford the structural work, take the wall out. It is the single change that transforms these houses, and doing it at the same time as the kitchen costs far less than doing it later and refitting again. If the budget only stretches to the kitchen, we will still do a good job of it, and a kitchen fitter on their own may be quicker for a straight swap.
Do you supply kitchens and bathrooms, or can I buy my own?
Either. Plenty of our customers buy their own kitchen from Howdens, Wren, Magnet or an independent maker and we fit it. Send us the plan before you order and we will tell you whether it works in the space.
We can also source it if you would rather one company was responsible for the whole thing. We will talk you through which route tends to work out better for your particular project.
How long does a kitchen renovation take?
A straightforward kitchen installation into a room that is ready for it is usually one to two weeks. A kitchen renovation with a wall coming out, replastering, new electrics and new flooring is more often three to five weeks from strip out to handover.
The thing that stretches it is the worktop. Stone and quartz are templated once the units are in and take a week or so to come back, so there is a pause in the middle. We plan the decorating and the flooring around it rather than leaving the room empty.
Excellent work done very professional will definitely be using them again highly recommend.
